We’ve spent some time before discussing the auto industry and how mobile development and mobile site design is impacting the way we shop for cars. A new study by J.D. Power reveals that many are actually using their phones while at the dealership to look up information about the cars, reviews and the like.
I personally bought a car this last weekend and I too found myself reaching for mobile devices to find out what typical gas milage various vehicles get, what the blue book value of a car is and that sort of information. Along with carfacts.com and other resources I felt empowered to make a smart decision and not be bamboozled by the salesman. Others I know feel the same way.
This kind of information at our fingertips helps us not feel so vulnerable, and gives businesses a great way to provide helpful and useful information that help us know, like and trust them. At the end of the day this is super important. In this economy people will spend if they are certain, and knowing, liking and trusting your company is a huge part of that.
We as consumers are also more aware again of our buying power. If we cut you off, you are cut off at the knees. Reputation managment is becoming and more and more important to address as companies move forward into this new information era.

Don’t think that just because you don’t sell cars folks aren’t doing this with your business. We as a society are becoming and more and more inclined to “think” in terms of using our smart phones, using our mobile devicesl, etc. to best meet our needs. We are walking through your stores looking at the best prices elsewhere, and the reviews about the products and services you offer. What’s the solution?
